As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design and implement robust backend services and APIs that support payment processing for a large European user base. Your work will directly impact how merchants and consumers transact securely at scale, within a highly regulated financial context.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs using Python, ensuring they meet strict standards for performance, security, and reliability
- Collaborate with product teams and technical leads to evolve system architecture in line with business growth
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, driving improvements in system stability and long-term resilience
- Write clean, well-documented code that supports compliance and audit requirements
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of professional experience building and scaling backend systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and relational databases, particularly Postgres
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (GCP)
- Fluency in French, with solid written and spoken English skills
- Proven ability to guide technical direction and influence product development
- A structured, detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to secure, compliant systems
Nice to Have
- Prior work on financial infrastructure, payment platforms, or regulated technology environments
