About the Role
In this role, you will lead the design, development, and enhancement of high-performance software systems using SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP. You will collaborate with technology teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional groups to deliver robust, scalable, and innovative solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-quality software systems using SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP to fulfill business and technical objectives.
- Evaluate, refine, and improve existing platforms to enhance efficiency, scalability, and system reliability.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth integration of applications and infrastructure.
- Offer technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers to promote skill development and team collaboration.
- Perform comprehensive testing, debugging, and code reviews to maintain consistency and quality in all outputs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years in software development and architectural design with a proven history of successful project delivery.
- Strong expertise in SQL, Perl, Core Java, and PHP.
- Solid analytical and troubleshooting abilities with experience navigating complex technical environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for engaging with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Experience coaching and supporting junior developers in technical roles.

Compensation
The annual salary range is $95,000 - $115,000, depending on experience. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on performance.

You will be part of a technology team working collaboratively with developers, stakeholders, and cross-functional units to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions.
Work model
This is an onsite position requiring five days per week in Riverwoods, Illinois. While flexibility and work-life balance are supported through wellbeing initiatives, the role currently mandates physical presence due to business needs. Work arrangements may evolve based on project demands and client requirements, with clear communication provided throughout.

Salary and Other Compensation

- The annual salary for this position is between $95,000 - $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
- This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
