The Site Reliability Engineer ensures high availability, performance, and scalability of platforms by leveraging automation, monitoring, and incident management. This role focuses on designing and troubleshooting distributed systems, partnering with DevOps and engineering teams, and advancing cloud-based solutions. The engineer operates independently, contributing to infrastructure as code, continuous integration and delivery, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement fault-tolerant, scalable infrastructure solutions that support user self-service capabilities
- Write and improve code to automate infrastructure across environments, aiming for full automation
- Enable innovation by supporting continuous deployment across technology stacks and promoting best practices in cloud solutions
- Assess emerging technologies, tools, services, and vendors to identify new capabilities and lead proof-of-concept initiatives
- Collaborate with Platform DevOps teams to build platform solutions and integrate observability tools
- Engineer technical solutions for infrastructure and application operations with a focus on standardization and automation
- Work with cross-functional teams to detect and resolve performance and reliability issues
- Support cybersecurity efforts including vulnerability remediation, secure configuration, testing, and incident response
- Partner with developers to ensure software releases are properly designed, implemented, and monitored
- Track and enhance platform reliability, quality, and operational efficiency
- Participate in on-call rotations and support incident prevention, response, and post-mortem analysis
- Perform complex analytical tasks in planning, deploying, testing, and evaluating systems
- Contribute to the design and deployment of reliable, scalable infrastructure using best practices and quality assurance
- Monitor system performance and implement optimizations to improve availability and efficiency
- Build and maintain tools for monitoring, deployment, and operational workflows
- Exercise independent judgment in handling significant technical and operational decisions
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
- Be available to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules as required

Requirements
- Strong understanding of AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Route53, and Lambda
- Solid knowledge of AWS networking and security concepts such as VPC, peering, and security groups
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Proven experience automating workflows using CI/CD tools like Concourse
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, especially Terraform
- Understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools including JIRA and Confluence
- Experience deploying systems in enterprise AWS environments
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant coursework and experience may be considered
- 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience
