The Senior Platform Engineer will focus on developing and maintaining a scalable, highly available infrastructure platform using modern technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and Google Cloud Platform. The role emphasizes automation, database performance, and system reliability to support large-scale web applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated systems for infrastructure and storage using Python or Go to ensure high availability and scalability.
- Manage and orchestrate infrastructure within distributed environments using Kubernetes, Terraform, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Ensure database reliability by managing Cloud SQL MySQL instances, implementing replication strategies, and preventing data loss.
- Partner with product development teams to align infrastructure capabilities with application needs and establish effective observability practices.
- Lead efforts in system reliability, including technical design reviews, incident response, and reducing mean time to resolution.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and public cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated ability to design and operate large-scale production infrastructure for modern web applications.
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or New Relic.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to reducing operational overhead through software solutions and scripting in Python or Bash.
Nice to Have
- Deep understanding of database internals, such as InnoDB, and their influence on query performance.
- Exposure to additional programming languages including Scala or TypeScript.
