About the Role

This role involves defining and implementing system architectures that address functional safety and safety of the intended functionality for autonomous vehicle platforms, working closely with engineering teams to ensure safe and reliable system behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of system architectures for autonomous vehicles with a focus on safety
  • Define safety goals and requirements based on hazard analysis and risk assessment
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and other relevant safety standards
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems teams to integrate safety concepts
  • Develop and maintain safety cases and technical documentation
  • Guide the application of SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality) principles
  • Identify potential functional insufficiencies and propose mitigation strategies
  • Support the definition of operational design domains and use cases
  • Conduct failure mode analyses and support fault tree development
  • Lead safety reviews and audits across system development phases
  • Translate regulatory and industry standards into technical requirements
  • Ensure traceability from safety requirements through design and testing
  • Work with test teams to validate safety mechanisms and edge cases
  • Provide technical leadership in safety-related decision making
  • Mentor engineers on functional safety and SOTIF best practices
  • Support certification efforts for safety-critical systems
  • Evaluate third-party components for safety compliance
  • Integrate safety workflows into agile development processes
  • Maintain awareness of emerging safety standards and technologies
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety engineering practices
