About the role and its distinctive characteristics: - Engage with innovative projects focused on gamifying and developing unique features in fantasy and sports betting products - Architect and implement clean, well-structured, and high-performance features that millions of customers will utilize - Collaborate closely with product-oriented professionals to shape and deliver transformative fantasy and sports betting innovations - Partner with client engineers and product stakeholders throughout project lifecycles, maintaining transparent communication and proactively addressing potential challenges - Champion best practices to establish robust developmental methodologies for our expanding team - Thrive in a high-autonomy environment where technical decision-making is collaborative and individuals are accountable for their choices - Learn from top-tier engineers and leaders in the fantasy and sports betting domain while contributing your unique perspective to elevate Underdog's sports gaming platform Ideal candidate profile: - Product-focused engineer with 6+ years of professional software development experience, including minimum 1 year at senior engineering level - Minimum 2 years of comprehensive Ruby on Rails expertise - Proficiency with CI/CD, AWS, and contemporary DevOps tooling - Robust understanding of SQL, observability platforms, and API design - Expertise in scaling distributed systems, performance optimization, caching, and database enhancement - Versatility across technological stack and ability to collaborate with product and design teams - Exceptional communicator with empathetic teamwork approach valuing mentorship and constructive feedback Additional advantageous qualifications: - Background or keen interest in fantasy sports or sports betting - Experience navigating rapid organizational growth - Proven track record developing highly scalable, available systems managing high-traffic scenarios with minimal latency Compensation range: $160,000 - $240,000, supplemented with pre-IPO equity. Offers calibrated based on experience, skills, impact, and geographical considerations.
