Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer I to design and build high-quality software solutions. In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing AI initiatives for our 2026 product roadmap while supporting and mentoring junior engineers and Technical Development Program participants. What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring timely project delivery.
- Use Cloud services like Azure, AWS, or GCP, and GitHub to build scalable and reliable applications.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to automate software deployment.
- Containerize applications using Docker for easy deployment and scalability.
- Write comprehensive test cases using the Acceptance Test-Driven Development (ATDD) approach to ensure software quality.
- Stay current with industry trends and technologies, participating in continuous learning.
What We're Looking For
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of software development experience with a focus on Spring Boot, Java, and React.
- 3+ years of development experience in SpringBoot/Java/Rest API.
- 3+ years of development experience in React/JavaScript.
- Experience in AI and ML for conducting proofs-of-concept (POCs) and participating in initiatives for the 2026 roadmap.
- 4+ years of professional full-stack development experience.
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Services.
- Experience writing test cases using the ATDD approach.
- Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building real-time data pipelines and streaming applications.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Experience working in an Agile methodology.
- Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
- Good knowledge of Kafka.
- Understanding of DevOps concepts.
- Solid knowledge of AI and Azure services, including EKS, ECR, MSK, Open Search, and Logstash.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
- A proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
