Koda Health is hiring a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on healthcare to lead the design and delivery of the most complex work across integrations and core platforms. You will be the person others call when a feature is hard, an integration is messy, or production is noisy. Expect 50–70% hands-on coding and design documentation, with the remainder focused on reliability and security.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain SMART on FHIR and HL7v2 integrations via platforms like Redox, supporting multi-product use cases across Epic, Cerner, and other EHR environments.
• Lead design and implementation for the most challenging features, developing TypeScript services and web applications.
• Own Infrastructure as Code with AWS CDK (TypeScript) and raise the bar on observability and performance.
• Evolve logging, alerting, and runbooks; improve incident response; and help design disaster-recovery regions and backup/restore practices.
• Partner with Security to address vulnerabilities, harden infrastructure, and maintain HIPAA and SOC2 controls such as audit trails, key management, and access controls.
• Write comprehensive design documents and conduct deep code reviews.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years building production software with strong TypeScript skills.
• Senior-level experience with at least some of our stack: AWS, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, MongoDB, RedShift.
• Hands-on experience solving healthcare workflow problems with technologies like SMART on FHIR, IDC-10, Redox, HL7v2, and OAuth, including prior work getting applications live in large health systems like Epic and Cerner.
• Experience building and operating services on AWS (e.g., Lambda, Beanstalk, ECS, API Gateway, ALB, S3, CloudWatch) using CDK or Terraform for IaC.
• A track record of leading design for complex features, authoring design docs, and improving reliability and observability in production.
• Working knowledge of regulated-data expectations (HIPAA/SOC2) and secure design basics.
• Familiarity with using the latest AI tooling like Claude Code with MCPs as part of your daily coding workflows.
• Fluent written and verbal English skills.
• Must be US-based with the ability to work CST/EST working hours (contractual requirement).
