Octave is looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to be a key part of our engineering organization. You will drive the design, implementation, and scalability of Cake's core product experience, working from the front-end Next.js application to backend Go services, ensuring our products delight customers and meet high standards of reliability and performance.
What You'll Do
- Deliver high-quality features by quickly ramping up on Cake's architecture, contributing code with high autonomy, and identifying technical debt or bottlenecks.
- Own critical initiatives by leading at least one major product feature or architectural refactoring from concept to production release by your second month.
- Drive improved code quality, security, and performance through thoughtful reviews and mentorship.
- Mentor and share knowledge by conducting knowledge-sharing sessions or pair-programming to elevate team skill sets and providing clear, actionable feedback.
- Engage with customer needs by working directly with customers to answer questions and troubleshoot issues, using insights to inform product priorities.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to critical customer issues.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Significant experience in full-stack development with React or Next.js, plus backend expertise.
- Experience designing and implementing robust user-facing APIs.
- Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Solid understanding of container orchestration.
- Proven track record of building secure, scalable platforms.
- Ability to diagnose and debug complex production systems.
- Embrace test-first, DevSecOps approaches and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- History of working directly with customers and translating feedback into technical requirements.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, excited by product ownership, iterative development, and fast-paced decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, skilled at articulating complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Nice to Have
- Backend expertise in Go.
- Kubernetes experience strongly preferred.
