Fanatics Betting and Gaming is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable backend systems that power customer experiences. You will apply strong technical skills and a collaborative approach to solve complex problems in our fast-paced industry.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS.
- Build scalable, low-latency distributed systems for iCasino experiences across web and mobile.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver features aligned with the product roadmap.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, architectural reviews, and process improvements.
- Contribute to discovery and design for complex technical projects, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Partner with Product, Design, DevOps, and Security in a highly regulated production environment.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to assist with incident response and production support.
- Operate within Agile methodologies and share progress in daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
- Stay current with the latest technologies, tools, and engineering best practices.
- Be open to occasional travel for collaboration, planning, or team-building.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with a backend focus.
- 3+ years building backend applications with Java and the Spring Framework.
- Expertise in software engineering principles, architectural patterns, and system design.
- Solid understanding of RESTful service design, distributed systems, data modeling, caching, and database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL).
- Strong skills in a CI/CD environment and knowledge of design principles for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-oriented mindset.
- Clear communication skills for explaining technical concepts to peers and non-engineers.
- Ability to navigate shifting priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and tools like Terraform, CI/CD, Datadog, or CloudWatch.
- Exposure to startup or hyper-growth environments with a pragmatic approach to MVPs.
- Experience with the React library.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices, cloud platforms, or DevOps workflows.
- Ability to work effectively cross-functionally within an enterprise environment.

Benefits & Compensation
- Annual salary range: $121,600 - $200,000 plus eligibility for an equity award.
