Mercury is hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Banking Integration Platform

About the Role

Design and maintain a scalable, secure platform that enables seamless integration between banking systems and internal services, ensuring high availability and compliance with financial standards.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement core components of a banking integration system
  • Ensure data consistency and reliability across financial transactions
  • Collaborate with product and compliance teams to meet regulatory requirements
  • Optimize system performance and reduce latency in critical paths
  • Write clean, testable code with strong observability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly
  • Design APIs for internal and external financial service integrations
  • Improve platform security and data protection practices
  • Participate in code reviews and system design discussions
  • Support the deployment and monitoring of distributed systems
  • Maintain uptime and reliability of integration endpoints
  • Work with third-party banking APIs and documentation
  • Implement error handling and retry logic for financial operations
  • Contribute to incident response and post-mortem analysis
  • Evaluate new technologies for financial data processing
  • Ensure compliance with financial industry standards
  • Scale backend systems to handle growing transaction volume
  • Document technical designs and integration patterns
  • Mentor engineers working on financial services
  • Drive best practices in testing and deployment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with banking or payments infrastructure
  • Familiarity with OFX, ISO 20022, or similar financial standards
  • Hands-on work with third-party financial APIs
  • Exposure to PCI-DSS or SOC 2 compliance frameworks
