Phantom is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Backend who blends systems thinking with product pragmatism and a real passion for crypto. You’ll design, maintain, and evolve the backend services and APIs that connect Phantom Cash to blockchains, making it feel dependable, seamless, and ready to scale.
What You'll Do
- Design, maintain, and evolve the backend services and APIs that connect Phantom Cash to blockchains.
- Communicate clearly across pods, document rigorously, and elevate the engineering bar through execution and mentorship.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A pragmatic engineering mindset focused on results and user impact.
- A proactive and outcome-oriented approach: you anticipate problems and push features to completion.
- Strong communication skills and pragmatic problem-solving; you explain complexity simply and favor progress over perfection.
- Experience with Node.js / NestJS at scale and event-driven design (queues, retries, idempotency).
- Expertise in REST API architecture: versioning, pagination, error models, authentication, rate-limiting.
- Full-stack awareness: you understand trade-offs of state management (client vs server) and latency budgets.
- Knowledge of distributed-systems fundamentals: concurrency, ordering, retries, data consistency.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kubernetes + AWS ops; CI/CD; observability; on-call ownership.
- A deep interest in crypto—you keep up with ecosystem changes, wallets, protocols, and security norms.
- Previous hands-on experience in crypto or fintech (exchanges, wallets, payment rails, ledgers).
- Smart-contract and protocol understanding: you know how on-chain programs interact with off-chain services.
- Blockchain integration experience—Solana preferred, EVM acceptable.
- You have shipped high-quality products in mature, high-bar engineering organizations.
