Hopper is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for its fintech division, focused on the Hotel Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) product. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and operating the complex backend systems that power the integration of our proprietary fintech offerings with major travel companies and direct-to-customer platforms.
What You'll Do
- Iterate on features in an agile manner using Scala and technologies like GCP, OpenAPI, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
- Decide how to best build core systems within our microservices architecture.
- Ship code quickly and iterate on features.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of people, giving and receiving feedback constructively.
- Execute on significant opportunities to elevate Hopper's position in the travel industry.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to bring leading industry techniques and technologies to the table.
- A strong understanding of distributed systems and how architectural decisions affect performance and maintainability.
- Proven experience excelling in cross-functional teams with Product Managers, Data Scientists, Frontend Engineers, and other specialists.
- A passionate focus on quality, writing testable code that performs and scales.
- Ability to work with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty, ambiguity, and quickly evolving goals.
- Prior cloud experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with Scala and its ecosystem of libraries.
- Prior travel or eCommerce industry experience.
- Experience and desire to contribute to front ends as a full-stack engineer, especially React web front ends.
