Okta is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Platform Network engineering team, which is responsible for all connectivity for Auth0. You will be a key contributor as we evolve our global network architecture to support enormous growth and ensure uninterrupted access for the hundreds of millions of users who rely on our platform.
What You'll Do
- Implement internal and edge networking infrastructure and design solutions that work at global scale, accounting for multi-cloud and multi-region constraints.
- Carry cross-team initiatives from end to end, including code reviews, design reviews, operational robustness, and security hygiene.
- Design and develop new services, tools, and automation to expose network functionality to other Okta engineering and operations teams.
- Research and implement solutions addressing cross-cutting concerns such as routing, failover, and scaling.
- Participate in the team's on-call rotation.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of software development experience building cloud-native services like APIs.
- Demonstrable knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and TLS.
- DevOps experience using cloud-agnostic, cloud-native technologies.
- Experience managing infrastructure with Terraform.
- Experience contributing to Go-based services.
- A passion for working on global distributed systems that are highly reliable, maintainable, scalable, and secure.
- A tendency to deliver work incrementally to get feedback and iterate over solutions.
- The right attitude: ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- A 'Product Mindset' toward infrastructure—building internal networking tools that are self-service, well-documented, and easy for application teams to consume.
- Experience with cloud providers like AWS or Azure and major content delivery networks.
- Experience implementing and scaling Service Mesh architectures to manage service-to-service communication, observability, and security.
- Knowledge of Istio/Envoy Proxy and the Kubernetes Gateway API to provide flexible, self-service ingress solutions.
- Experience designing and maintaining multi-cloud networking topologies and hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect) at scale.
