Responsibilities
- Create and build systems with integrated cybersecurity capabilities
- Architect hardware, software, and operating systems with strong security foundations
- Integrate reliable data backup solutions into system designs and establish secure procedures for storing backup data
- Establish and oversee system testing, validation processes, and related documentation
- Produce detailed security design documents outlining component and interface specifications
- Formulate disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans, including pre-deployment testing
- Develop targeted cybersecurity defenses and risk reduction approaches for systems
- Lead resolution of technical issues during testing and deployment, including non-interoperable communication protocols
- Determine and rank critical system functions necessary for recovery after failures or disruptions
- Evaluate, analyze, and propose cybersecurity products that meet organizational validation standards
- Execute security designs in new or existing systems
- Integrate solutions for known cybersecurity vulnerabilities into system architecture
- Conduct risk assessments following major changes to systems or applications
- Build, test, and validate secure connections between information systems, physical components, and embedded technologies
- Develop and maintain security controls that ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation
- Ensure security requirements are fully addressed across all systems and applications
- Formulate strategies to mitigate risks related to cost, schedule, performance, and security
- Conduct security evaluations and detect architectural weaknesses
- Map system requirements to design elements and perform gap analysis
- Assess system architecture for stability, interoperability, portability, and scalability
