vCluster Labs is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer to drive quality across our complex platform. You'll own the test strategy in a fast-paced startup, ensuring our product and underlying Kubernetes systems are reliable and robust through automation and deep technical validation.

What You'll Do

• Work across multiple parallel projects in a fast-moving, startup environment with shifting priorities.
• Own the test strategy for features and releases, ensuring risk-based coverage aligned to product goals.
• Explore and test complex systems end-to-end - the product, the Kubernetes cluster, and underlying components - to thoroughly validate behavior and reliability beyond the UI.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for backend and UI testing.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to influence features, advocate for testability, and align on quality standards.
• Conduct exploratory testing to identify usability issues, edge cases, and potential regressions not covered by automation.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (like GitHub Actions or Jenkins) to ensure high-confidence, fast feedback during development.
• Mentor peers and junior engineers on quality mindset and test automation best practices.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of experience in QA or Software Testing, with at least 2+ years in a senior capacity.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes environments and distributed systems.
• Proven ability to thrive in a startup environment - adaptable, calm under ambiguity, and capable of juggling multiple responsibilities.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively; advocates for quality across teams and can influence outcomes.
• Takes full ownership and shows initiative - spots what needs doing, follows through, and ensures quality from backend logic to user experience.
• Understands how things work under the hood and can connect the dots between infrastructure, integrations, and application behavior.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Go or Python - used for automation and tooling.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines with experience integrating and maintaining automated test suites (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes environments.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus.
