About the Role
This position involves leading structural engineering efforts for dam projects, including design, analysis, inspection, and safety evaluation. The candidate will work on complex water infrastructure systems, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to the technical development of project teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead structural assessments and performance evaluations of existing dam structures
- Design new dam components and modifications using industry standards
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction specifications
- Conduct field inspections and condition assessments at dam sites
- Collaborate with geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental specialists
- Support emergency response planning and dam safety reviews
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for structural engineering tasks
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Review and approve contractor submittals related to structural elements
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
- Develop finite element models for structural analysis of concrete and embankment dams
- Evaluate seismic performance and stability under extreme loading conditions
- Participate in peer reviews and quality assurance processes
- Coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies during project execution
- Prepare and present findings to stakeholders and technical review boards
- Integrate risk assessment methodologies into structural evaluations
- Apply advanced software tools for modeling and simulation of structural systems
- Support dam rehabilitation, retrofitting, and life extension projects
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of codes, standards, and best practices
- Contribute to proposal development and business development initiatives
