Polymarket is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the platform engineering team. You will architect and optimize high-throughput systems with modern infrastructure, building and maintaining the foundation that powers our prediction markets.

What You'll Do

Design, implement, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs that handle large-scale transactions and real-time data.
Optimize system throughput and efficiency to ensure seamless operation at scale.
Implement best practices for secure, fault-tolerant, and highly available distributed systems.
Collaborate with front-end engineers, designers, and stakeholders across the company to deliver a fully integrated user experience.
Provide feedback and suggestions on others' work during code review sessions to maintain codebase quality.
Stay at the forefront of blockchain-based trading technologies, exploring new solutions to improve the platform.
Communicate directly with customers, providing support and gathering feedback.

What We're Looking For

8+ years of experience in backend development.
Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact and high usage.
Master-level proficiency in systems programming languages like Golang, Rust, or C++.
Strong knowledge of database systems and internals (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

Blockchain-specific backend experience (e.g., working on BFT consensus engines, event indexing systems, libp2p).
Experience with Ethereum roll-up technologies (e.g., Arbitrum Nova, Optimism).
Open source contributor.
Active participant on ethresear.ch.
