ICEYE is seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to be responsible for the architecture, design, simulation, and bring-up of optical satellite payloads. In this role, you will own the process from ground-up design through to in-orbit commissioning and calibration of spaceborne electro-optical remote sensing instruments.
What You'll Do
- Be a key founding member of a small team responsible for the architecture, design, simulation, and bring-up of the optical satellite payload.
- Bring the design into full production, including commissioning and operations of the imaging instrument.
- Manage all phases: testing, qualification, verification, and iterating on necessary steps.
- Own in-orbit commissioning and calibration of spaceborne electro-optical remote sensing instruments.
What We're Looking For
- Expert knowledge of geometrical optics and physics related to optical systems design and operations.
- Proficiency with Zemax for optical systems design, analysis, and simulation.
- Extensive experience in design, simulation, building, and testing of multi-mirror, multi-lens optical systems for imaging applications.
- Experience in optical systems bring-up, alignment, stabilization, and verification methods.
- Proactive attitude, willingness to work with the team, knowledge sharing, and active participation in creating solutions for spaceborne imaging instruments from scratch.
- Mindset of owning problems and solving them; capability of taking risks and leaning forward when needed. R&D style of learning by doing and iterating.
- Previous experience with design of optical imaging systems for EO/ISR applications for satellites.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of satellite systems and integration of the optical payload with satellite platforms.
