NMI is hiring a Senior Network Engineer

We are seeking an innovative and performance-driven Senior Network Engineer to propel the advancement and dependability of our global network infrastructure. This role involves a critical mission of ensuring exceptional availability, peak performance, and robust security across NMI's production and office networks. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing and implementing cutting-edge infrastructure while maintaining existing systems and enhancing network visibility. This position offers primarily remote work (preferring U.S. Eastern or Central time zones), with occasional travel (1-4 times annually) to company colocation facilities, fully compensated by the organization. Proximity to a company office may encourage periodic collaborative in-person interactions. The Ideal Candidate: - Demonstrates comprehensive expertise in network architecture across wide area, local area, and data center networks - Excels in navigating both traditional and contemporary network environments, innovatively improving resilience and performance - Implements automation for routine tasks and integrates comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and metrics - Possesses profound skills in hybrid infrastructures with on-premises and cloud technology experience - Communicates effectively and collaborates seamlessly within global, distributed teams - Champions operational excellence and advocates for observable, fault-tolerant network architectures Key Responsibilities: Network Architecture & Maintenance: - Supervise and maintain all network devices, ensuring continuous operation and optimal performance - Develop and enhance network architecture supporting evolving business requirements - Manage complete network hardware lifecycle from procurement to decommissioning - Create and refine routing policies to maximize network performance Security & Reliability: - Conduct comprehensive firewall and switch configuration reviews for security and performance compliance - Implement and sustain high-availability firewalls in regulated environments - Execute detailed root cause analyses and develop solutions to enhance resilience Monitoring & Incident Response: - Continuously test, monitor, and document network performance - Participate in on-call rotations for timely incident resolution - Leverage observability data to drive proactive network improvements Qualifications & Experience: Required: - 5+ years managing and configuring network devices in high-availability environments - 3+ years VPN administration supporting 500+ users - 3+ years network security and regulatory compliance expertise - Proficiency with BGP and OSPF routing protocols across multi-site networks - Strong technical documentation and troubleshooting capabilities - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Preferred: - Experience with advanced network security solutions - Professional certifications - Cloud network design and management skills - Scripting proficiency - Expertise in complex, regulated environments - Proven vendor relationship management Compensation and Benefits: - Competitive annual salary with bonus potential - Remote-first work culture - Flexible PTO - Comprehensive insurance coverage - Paid holidays - Company volunteer opportunities Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 USD NMI empowers partners by providing innovative payment solutions, supporting entrepreneurs and technology creators across various commercial landscapes.
