About the Role
This role involves leading the design, modeling, and analysis of hydraulic systems for civil infrastructure projects, including stormwater, drainage, and flood control. The engineer will support project delivery from concept through construction, working with public and private clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of hydraulic models for stormwater and drainage systems
- Conduct floodplain and watershed analyses for infrastructure planning
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Perform hydrologic calculations to support design criteria
- Review project proposals to determine hydraulic requirements
- Collaborate with civil and environmental engineers on integrated designs
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal water regulations
- Supervise junior engineers and technical staff on modeling tasks
- Support field investigations and data collection for system assessments
- Evaluate existing hydraulic infrastructure for rehabilitation needs
- Develop solutions for urban flooding and drainage challenges
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies during permitting processes
- Manage project timelines and deliverables for hydraulic components
- Apply industry software for simulation and system optimization
- Present technical findings to clients and stakeholders
- Integrate climate resilience into hydraulic design approaches
- Review contractor submittals related to water systems
- Support construction oversight and design clarification
- Maintain quality control in modeling and design documentation
- Stay current with advancements in hydraulic engineering practices
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in hydraulic or water resources engineering
- Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling
- Project experience in coastal or arid regions
- Certification from a recognized engineering organization
- Experience with green infrastructure design
- Knowledge of dam and levee hydraulics
