Responsibilities
- Formulate strategic initiatives and operational plans to enable compliant and seamless international transfer of products and services by collaborating with internal and external parties.
- Collaborate with internal teams to offer expert advice and direction on fulfilling trade compliance responsibilities.
- Serve as the primary contact with freight forwarders, U.S. government representatives, customs brokers, and internal or external clients on import and export regulatory issues.
- Create a standardized global program for customs brokers, logistics providers, and forwarding partners to streamline trade operations.
- Oversee key performance metrics with the objective of continuous improvement in trade compliance processes.
- Analyze emerging trade regulations and update internal procedures to maintain compliance.
- Collaborate with legal to interpret regulatory shifts affecting operations and coordinate implementation of updated compliance protocols across departments.
- Act as a subject matter expert in international trade, leveraging knowledge of customs laws and government agencies to facilitate lawful market access and cross-border trade efficiency.
- Enhance cost efficiency, reduce lead times, and improve processes using data analysis, automation tools, and accurate data handling.
- Develop training materials, communication strategies, and standardized work instructions to align partners with trade compliance policies.
- Partner with executive leadership, business units, and product teams to establish and enforce regional compliance frameworks.
- Create, monitor, and maintain performance data and reporting content to generate insights that improve compliance outcomes for stakeholders.
- Track proposed modifications to import and export control laws and evaluate their potential impact on business activities.
- Oversee day-to-day activities related to trade compliance governance, including research, status updates, and coordination of team outputs.
- Support classification of technology and products, including determination of Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS, Schedule B) and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN) based on local regulatory needs.
- Identify opportunities to increase automation, accuracy, and efficiency while reducing operational friction in trade processes.
