Chrysalis AE is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for AI Infrastructure to build the foundational security layers, SDKs, and APIs for our systems. You will architect and implement end-to-end features across a modern stack, working in an early, fast-moving environment with high autonomy and direct collaboration with founders.
What You'll Do
- Architect and implement end-to-end features across the Next.js TypeScript frontend and FastAPI backend.
- Build new API endpoints, database models, and migrations using SQLAlchemy and Alembic.
- Build security layers using OAuth and OIDC.
- Build frontend UI using React, Shadcn/UI, Tailwind, and the Next.js App Router.
- Integrate frontend flows with backend APIs using Axios, Zod validation, and Firebase auth.
- Improve overall architecture, including component design, API boundaries, and service modularity.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code and tests using pytest and Jest.
- Own database modeling: designing schemas, writing secure queries, and ensuring performance.
- Manage asynchronous jobs using Google Cloud Tasks where applicable.
- Work within a containerized environment using Docker Compose locally and Cloud Run in production.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and help improve deploy reliability with GitHub Actions.
- Participate in code reviews and raise the engineering bar for the team.
- Help define best practices for a modern full-stack application.
- Identify missing requirements and clarify product decisions without waiting for direction.
- Break down ambiguous features into actionable milestones.
- Make pragmatic tradeoffs balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Collaborate directly with founders and designers; propose technical and UX improvements.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience building full-stack web applications.
- Strong proficiency in Python, with FastAPI preferred (Flask/Django acceptable).
- Experience building privacy-first systems with OAuth/OIDC.
- Demonstrated experience building SDKs.
- Strong skills in SQL and relational data modeling, preferably with PostgreSQL.
- Experience with SQLAlchemy or a similar ORM.
- Expertise in REST API design.
- Proficiency with React and TypeScript.
- Experience with Next.js, including the App Router, API integration, and understanding of SSR/ISR.
- Ability to take vague product requirements and turn them into production-ready features with little guidance.
- Comfort working in fast-moving environments, shipping quickly, and iterating with founders and designers.
- Excellent communication and autonomy while collaborating in a remote-first team.
- Strong English speaking skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Firebase Auth.
- Familiarity with GCP services like Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Tasks.
- Experience with Alembic migrations.
- Experience with testing frameworks like pytest and Jest.
- Familiarity with Shadcn/UI or Radix UI.
- Experience with async Python (asyncpg, async SQLAlchemy).
- Experience in early-stage startup environments or on 0→1 projects.
- Comfort working heavily with LLM tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot for speed and iteration.
