Element Biosciences is hiring a Senior Field Application Scientist, Bioinformatics to provide expert support to our global customers. In this San Diego-based role, you will troubleshoot bioinformatics pipelines, deliver software training, and provide strategic input that directly contributes to our commercial software development.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot issues related to customers’ bioinformatics pipelines for both NGS and multiomics data.
- Support the commercial team with software applications and provide high-level product training.
- Display professionalism, understanding, and deep technical knowledge in all customer interactions.
- Provide strategic and competitive feedback to marketing and product development teams.
- Work independently on significant issues requiring collaboration with key decision-makers and senior managers.
- Deliver remote customer training and workshops.
- Utilize service CRM software to accurately identify and document customer opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes.
- Travel infrequently to customer sites and commercial meetings.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and tissue handling.
- Background in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, mathematics, or related fields.
- Exceptional development skills, especially in implementing novel algorithms.
- C++ and/or C# programming skills.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python.
- Strong problem-solving ability and high motivation.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Highly collaborative and adaptable; able to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfort navigating technical project discussions.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Demonstrated account management skills.
- Must be physically located in San Diego.
- Flexibility to provide customer support during non-regular business hours.
Nice to Have
- A minimum of 1 year of industry experience in NGS and multiomics pipelines.
- Knowledge of cloud and related technologies (AWS, Docker).
