Waymark is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and fault-tolerant systems on AWS infrastructure
  • Lead and enhance continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines to improve automation
  • Manage and evolve infrastructure using code-based tools such as Terraform and Ansible
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, build proof-of-concept implementations, and integrate proven solutions into team workflows
  • Enhance system reliability through improved monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools like Grafana, Loki, Mimir, and Tempo
  • Participate in an on-call schedule with minimal off-hours incidents due to robust automation; occasional after-hours work limited to planned system updates
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation including operational procedures, runbooks, and infrastructure diagrams
  • Support and assist other teams with system operations and maintenance tasks
  • Support analytics initiatives through management of dBt and Redshift platforms
  • Enable data science workflows by maintaining and managing SageMaker environments
  • Promote DevOps best practices across engineering teams through mentorship and guidance on deployment, observability, and reliability
  • Partner with engineering teams to influence infrastructure architecture and design decisions

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience building and managing highly available, fault-tolerant cloud systems
  • Proven hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, ECR, CloudFront, and Route 53
  • Experience using containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Nomad
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform and Ansible
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation
  • Advanced skills in Linux environments and shell or bash scripting
  • Experience working with relational databases like PostgreSQL and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ
  • Experience operating in regulated or compliance-focused environments such as HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI, or FedRAMP

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with service mesh and secrets management tools such as Consul and Vault
  • Experience supporting data platforms and pipelines including dBt, SageMaker, and Redshift
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and DNS management
  • Experience with automated image creation and provisioning using Packer
  • Programming experience in languages such as Python, Elixir, or TypeScript
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
