Johnson Controls is hiring a Senior Development Engineer to lead the engineering, financial modeling, and analysis for medium to large projects ranging from $5M to $20M. In this remote role on the West Coast, you will be a leader within the Development Team, establishing customer partnerships, mentoring staff, and upholding the highest professional and ethical standards.
What You'll Do
- Lead engineering, field auditing, data analysis, and financial modeling during the preliminary and detailed development phases.
- Provide technical, process, and financial analysis support to the Development team throughout the design process.
- Build and maintain detailed development budgets, scopes, and energy savings models with internal and external partners.
- Perform on-site auditing and data collection at customer facilities as required.
- Conduct detailed engineering and financial analysis to quantify customer cost savings and benefits.
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing components of bundled sales and portions of presentations to all customer organizational levels.
- Represent the development team in operational reviews of large or technically complex programs.
- Create and manage budgets, timelines, and quality of work for assigned opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and facility mid-level technical and financial managers.
- Mentor less experienced Program Development staff.
- Actively participate in relevant professional organizations, taking on lead roles.
- Promote and adhere to Johnson Controls safety policies.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
- Eight years or more of experience in designing/selling building systems, energy modeling, construction, or facility management.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in a minimum of 30 Facility Improvement Measures.
- Strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage development project tasks.
- Full competence in analysis and assessment of facility mechanical and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, drive for results, and act professionally and ethically.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in customer-facing situations.
- Solid computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, SharePoint sites, building energy modeling tools (eQuest), and benchmarking tools.
- Ability to travel approximately 50%.
Nice to Have
- Undergraduate experience performing building modeling (e.g., IAC program).
- Function-specific licenses or certifications, such as a Professional Engineering license or CEM.
- An MBA or other advanced degree.

- Salary range: $94,000 - $141,800
