About the Role

The Principal Technical Engineer will engage comprehensively in engineering design processes, encompassing innovative product creation and enhancement of existing solutions. The role involves implementing BD's Global Product Development Framework, utilizing advanced engineering methodologies to deliver high-performance, cost-effective designs through systematic Stage Gate protocols, Design for Manufacturing, and Design for Six Sigma approaches. The professional will be instrumental in supporting verification strategy development and execution for high-volume medical product manufacturing. Responsibilities include test method development activities, involving measurement system design, analysis, test fixture creation, and equipment validation. Key Responsibilities: - Propel Research and Development initiatives across entire product development lifecycle - Transform customer and operational requirements into measurable, verifiable specifications - Optimize design considerations integrating material, form factor, process, and human factors - Rigorously evaluate and analyze system performance and reliability - Implement Design for Six Sigma methodologies throughout development process - Assess design considerations to maximize Design for Excellence criteria - Engage in comprehensive product development and lifecycle management - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Systems Engineering, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing Technology - Develop technical documentation, engineering plans, drawings, 3D models - Ensure compliance with safety regulations and internal procedures - Lead test method development, measurement system validation - Execute verification protocols and design review processes - Demonstrate statistical proficiency in identifying design variances - Apply advanced engineering principles to resolve complex technical challenges - Synthesize and optimize designs considering design space and trade-offs - Conduct continuous improvement projects - Maintain test equipment and validation records - Optimize product design considering regulatory and business requirements Education Requirements: - Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Biomedical Engineering - Advanced degree preferred Experience: - 6-10 years leading product development in medical device/pharmaceutical industries - Proven hands-on experience developing high-volume products - Understanding of structured, phase-gated product development processes Required Skills: - Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities - Advanced critical thinking - Cross-functional project leadership - Technical and managerial judgment - Project planning expertise - Comprehensive understanding of change control processes - Alignment with organizational values Primary Work Location: IND Bengaluru - Technology Campus
