CSG is looking for a Senior Database Engineer - DB2 to provide advanced database administration and technical leadership for our global database and data warehousing products. You will set technical direction, ensure business continuity, and guide the team in building high-performance solutions.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical direction for DBMS standards, including software delivery, patch policies, database tuning, and application design recommendations.
- Design, recommend, and implement backup and recovery policies and procedures.
- Design business continuity architecture to meet business needs.
- Provide suggestions and standards for documentation to improve team and organizational efficiency.
- Offer technical recommendations for advanced database components like replication, security, clustering, and partitioning.
- Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required.
- Identify and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.
- Provide technical leadership on problem calls, focusing on resolution and root cause analysis.
- Open and work tickets with DBMS vendors and help drive them to resolution.
- Identify global problems and drive corrections across the ecosystem.
- Make design recommendations for daily operational checks, audits, and event management.
- Provide standards for shell scripting and ensure scripts are written to standard.
- Write complex shell scripting and reusable components.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
- Provide technical leadership for the DBA team.
- Work with cross-functional teams on designing high-performance database solutions.
- Lead technical efforts for projects and initiatives.
- Provide database tuning and performance analysis for value streams and platforms.
What We're Looking For
- Associates/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 7-10 years of database administration experience.
- Experience with multiple OS platforms (z/OS, Exadata, Linux, Windows).
- Experience with a variety of database implementations and applications in a production environment.
- Experience and knowledge of concepts such as OS (z/OS, *NIX, Intel, Linux), storage (SMS, SAN, NAS, DA), Network, LAN, WAN and TCP/IP, Virtual environments, and Cloud computing.
Nice to Have
- Experience with mainframe z/OS interfaces, monitors, security, tools.
- Experience with Enterprise Agility methodologies, demonstrated experience with SAFe and DevOps.
