Faculty is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to lead high-impact AI projects and shape the technical direction of bespoke solutions for our National Security and AI Safety business unit. This role requires hands-on technical excellence combined with crucial team leadership.
What You'll Do
- Lead project teams that deliver bespoke algorithms and high-stakes AI solutions to clients.
- Conceive the core data science approach and design robust software architectures for new engagements.
- Mentor data scientists and support the professional growth of technical team members.
- Partner with commercial teams to build client relationships and shape project scope for technical feasibility.
- Contribute to Faculty’s thought leadership through courses, public speaking, or open-source projects.
- Ensure best practices are followed throughout the project lifecycle to guarantee high-quality delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Senior experience in a professional data science position or a quantitative academic field.
- Strong programming skills, with fluency in Python using core libraries (NumPy, Pandas) and a deep-learning framework like PyTorch.
- Deep expertise in core data science paradigms (supervised/unsupervised, NLP, validation) and proficiency across the standard data science toolkit.
- Leadership mindset, focused on growing team technical capabilities and nurturing a collaborative culture.
- Commercial awareness, with experience in client-facing work and translating business problems into a rigorous mathematical framework.
- Skill in project planning, assessing technical feasibility, estimating timelines, and leading a team to deliver on schedule.
