About the Role

The Oregon Department of Justice is hiring a Senior Data Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 7) to provide data analysis, reporting, planning, and technical services for DOJ-managed data. This senior-level position is part of the Legal Tools Program team dedicated to delivering a product that meets the department's unique needs.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze data stored across multiple relational databases for trends, patterns, and quality issues using Power BI, SSMS, and T-SQL.
  • Plan and implement data inventories, catalogs, information analysis, modeling, and data quality testing in collaboration with DOJ staff and vendors.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy impactful reports, dashboards, and visualizations that communicate key insights for data migration, governance, and business decisions.
  • Evaluate potential information management designs to ensure they meet DOJ’s data governance, compliance, and technology standards.
  • Verify and validate the quality of migrated data against source systems, models, and standards.
  • Contribute to developing data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging data analysis and management practices through training, research, and professional contact.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external organizations, DOJ Program and Project staff, divisions, and personnel.

What We're Looking For

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience in performing data and data quality analysis with large, complex data systems.
  • Finalists must pass a comprehensive employment reference check and fingerprint-based criminal background check.

  • Keen understanding of data management and analysis best practices and technology solutions.
  • Experience analyzing information across multiple disparate databases.
  • Experience using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Power BI.
  • Experience with complex data migrations.
  • Experience identifying, reporting, and resolving data quality issues.
  • Experience contributing to data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Proactive troubleshooting, listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan and perform assignments with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to sort through multiple and, at times, conflicting needs and priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in a way that technical information is understood by all customers and users, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both business and information technology staff both verbally and written.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team.
