Valtech is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS) to join a multidisciplinary project team. You'll build and manage large-scale, public-facing experience and commerce platforms, focusing on cloud infrastructure, security, monitoring, and DevOps support.
What You'll Do
- Build, change, and maintain cloud infrastructures in AWS – compute, data, and networking.
- Set up logging, monitoring, and security.
- Support teams to set up and maintain their pipelines.
- Coach junior colleagues to improve their technical skills.
- Proactively advise teams, clients, and projects on cloud-related improvements in performance, availability, security, and reliability.
- Participate as an L3 cloud engineer in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation.
- Communicate transparently and be verbose about work in project tools.
- Create and maintain necessary documentation for colleagues.
- Create and maintain automation wherever it makes sense.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a cloud engineer in AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
- Solid knowledge of AWS serverless services.
- Knowledge and experience with monitoring systems (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch).
- Knowledge and experience with various pipelining tools (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps, Gitlab, Jenkins).
- Knowledge and experience with microservices-related technology: Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good conceptual understanding of cloud architecture and system thinking.
- Experience working as an engineer in a DevOps context.
- Excellent command of English (C1 or above).
- Experience with publicly accessible, highly available eCommerce and/or experience platforms.
- Experience working in an international context with on- and off-shore teams.
- Assertive with good communication skills.
- Cooperative attitude, DevOps mindset, and respect for colleagues.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with specific AWS technologies: ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, Guardduty, Cloudwatch, ALB, ELB, VPC, NSG, Cloudfront.
