Remote Talent LATAM is hiring a Senior Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to lead the development of scalable backend systems and cloud architecture for a digital health platform. You will be responsible for building secure, high-performance APIs and infrastructure that meets strict healthcare compliance standards.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain scalable FastAPI-based APIs.
• Design efficient PostgreSQL schemas and optimize queries.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Redis, RabbitMQ, or Kafka.
• Manage complex AWS architectures including VPC, ECS/EKS, Route 53, and Cloudflare.
• Support multi-region deployments for high availability.
• Enforce HIPAA standards and manage AWS IAM.
• Implement secure authentication with OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT.
• Apply Zero Trust security principles.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Define Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Automate containerized workloads.
• Set up observability practices, log aggregation, and distributed tracing.
• Implement multi-region monitoring with automated alerts.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of combined experience in backend development and infrastructure management.
• Expert-level Python programming skills.
• 2+ years of FastAPI (or similar) production experience.
• Deep expertise in AWS services (VPC, EC2, IAM, RDS, S3, ALB, Route 53, API Gateway, ECS, EKS).
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
• Production experience with technologies like Aurora and RDS.
• Proficiency with message brokers (Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka) and async task management.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, and container orchestration.
• Experience with CI/CD tools, particularly GitHub Actions.
• Strong knowledge of security best practices and HIPAA compliance requirements.
• Proven experience with multi-region cloud deployments and disaster recovery.
• Experience with observability tools and monitoring solutions.

Benefits & Compensation

• Compensation: $5,500 USD/month.
• Working hours: 9 AM – 5 PM PST.
• 2 weeks of PTO, aligned with U.S. holidays.

This is a fully remote position open to candidates located exclusively in LATAM countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela).
