As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design and maintain backend services powering mission-critical aviation and fuel management solutions. Working remotely, you'll take ownership of API architecture, code quality, and incident resolution while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable APIs and backend services using PHP and Symfony
- Lead code reviews, enforce testing standards, and ensure strong test coverage with PHPUnit
- Break down complex features into deliverable tasks and support accurate sprint planning
- Monitor, deploy, and troubleshoot systems across staging and production environments
- Respond to incidents during on-call rotations with a focus on fast, effective resolution
- Mentor team members in TDD, BDD, DDD, and secure development practices
- Champion clean, modular architecture and advocate for long-term maintainability
- Stay current with evolving tools, security standards, and best practices, including OWASP guidelines
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience with PHP
- At least one year of hands-on Symfony framework experience in a production environment
- 1.5+ years using PHPUnit for robust test-driven development
- Strong understanding of software design, testing, and system reliability
Nice to Have
- Experience with MongoDB, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Node.js
- Knowledge of API design and integration patterns
Work Environment
This is a full-time, remote role with fixed working hours: 12:00 PM – 9:30 PM IST during summer and 1:00 PM – 10:30 PM IST in winter. Weekends are fully off—no on-call duties or weekend work.
