Toptal is looking for a Senior Back-end Engineer (Operationalize) to join our team. Your primary focus will be on enhancing system reliability, performance, and scalability. You will play a key role in architecting and implementing solutions that support our platform's growth and stability.

What You'll Do

Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services.
Develop and implement strategies for monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
Automate infrastructure and deployment processes to improve engineering efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and meet system reliability goals.
Lead initiatives to diagnose and resolve complex system performance issues.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
Proven expertise in designing and operating large-scale, distributed systems.
Deep understanding of system architecture, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.
Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code tools.

Nice to Have

Background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of database performance tuning and caching strategies.
Contributions to open-source projects or a public technical blog.
