Sprout Social is seeking a Senior Applied AI/ML Scientist to join our AI, Data, and Intelligence Business Unit. You will be instrumental in harnessing the power of social data—processing over one billion messages daily for more than 30,000 brands—to build intelligent features that directly benefit our customers.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of customer-centric features using data science, machine learning, and generative AI.
- Deliver tangible, quantifiable impact on our highest priority AI initiatives, directly driving key business outcomes.
- Develop robust frameworks for evaluating and measuring AI features to improve speed, quality, and demonstrable ROI.
- Collaborate closely with product management, design, and software engineering partners to deliver high-quality AI solutions.
- Effectively communicate AI capabilities, limitations, and product implications to align technical possibilities with customer needs and product vision.
What We're Looking For
- A proven track record of leading customer-centric AI/ML development with quantifiable business impact.
- 5+ years of applied experience in AI/ML and data science, working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 5+ years developing models in Python using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, or LGBM, with strong proficiency in SQL and RESTful APIs.
- Broad and deep expertise in analytical, statistical, and AI/ML methods, with a focus on shipping solutions that improve products and resolve customer pain points.
- Experience building with transformer architectures and leveraging embeddings.
Nice to Have
- Rapidly prototyping with new AI/ML technologies to explore business applicability.
- Collaborating with product management to define data-driven roadmaps based on feasibility and customer value.
- Designing and executing A/B testing frameworks and other rigorous experimentation techniques.
- Developing and deploying deep learning models and NLP solutions.
- Architecting and implementing production large language model features, including fine-tuning, optimization, and prompt-engineering.
- Building and deploying models on OpenSearch and ElasticSearch.
- Java development experience.
- Engineering model services, deployment technologies, and ML-Ops practices.
- Creating APIs and services across platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
- Enforcing AI/ML model security, bias mitigation, and ethical AI frameworks.

- Compensation: Zone 1 (New York, California, Washington): $176,000 - $242,000 USD annually. Zone 2 (All other US states): $160,000 - $220,000 USD annually. + equity via Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
