At Magic Media, our passion is creating engaging games. We are looking for a Senior 3D Environment Artist (Unreal) to contribute to the artistic vision and development of high-quality AAA content. You will be a key member of the art team, working closely with the art director and other artists to build detailed, modular environments that tell compelling stories.
What You'll Do
- Generate high-quality models, modular kit pieces, and textures from concepts and photos.
- Create art-driven environmental stories through spatial design and set dressing that inspire players.
- Interpret and push concept designs further, bringing new ideas to the table.
- Consistently achieve high visual quality while working independently.
- Collaborate closely with level designers to meet both gameplay and art direction needs.
- Work with technical artists to develop or improve techniques that enhance visual quality.
- Assist the art director and lead artist in solving complex artistic and technical issues.
- Provide artistic and technical guidance to internal artists.
- Mentor junior environment artists on the team through sound technical and artistic work.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience in Environment Art.
- At least 2+ years as an Environment Artist using Unreal Engine (5.0+ preferred).
- Shipped at least 2 games in an Environment Art role; full-cycle experience on a AAA PC or console title is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of standard 3D packages like 3Ds Max, Maya, or Blender.
- Strong artistic sense of scene composition.
- Deep understanding of modern AAA environment pipelines, both technically and organizationally.
- Proven experience with PBR workflows and software such as Substance Painter/Designer.
- Basic lighting and rendering skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary art team.
- Experience problem-solving for art with technical artists, programmers, and leads.
- Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
- A proactive mindset and great team spirit.
- Professional working English proficiency.
Nice to Have
- A tech art background related to environments, materials, or lighting.
- Procedural environment insights or basic knowledge (e.g., Houdini).
- Technical experience with Unreal or Unity asset integration and/or illumination.
- Lighting and rendering experience in Unreal with Lumen.
