Mass General Brigham and McLean Hospital are hiring a Security Officer Senior to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees. You'll be a vital part of our hospital community, enforcing regulations and proactively addressing security concerns.
What You'll Do
- Patrol assigned areas, focusing on locations with prior security issues.
- Identify unsafe conditions and improperly secured property to prevent theft or injury.
- Investigate thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential criminal conduct.
- Notify law enforcement agencies of potential misconduct and detain suspicious individuals as appropriate.
- Make arrests when authorized and participate in required court proceedings.
- Prepare complete and accurate written reports and log all incidents.
- Maintain accountability and documentation for valuables and evidence in your custody.
- Act as Dispatcher using integrated security systems; radio dispatch personnel and maintain documentation.
- Assist workplace and domestic victims and respond to medical emergencies.
- Aid in restraining patients when authorized, protect dignitaries, and control traffic.
- Voluntarily participate in departmental committees, task forces, and teams.
What We're Looking For
- A valid Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to de-escalate anxious or stressed individuals and manage aggression.
- Works effectively independently and in teams, with strong multitasking abilities.
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, judgment, and prioritization skills.
- Customer service skills: accessible, empathetic, positive, collaborative, and flexible.
- Projects a positive image with tact, diplomacy, and active listening.
- Understanding of community policing, risk analysis, and crime prevention concepts.
- Strong writing skills to provide and maintain supporting documentation.
- Intermediate computer skills in typing and database software.
Nice to Have
- A Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice.
- Experience in a hospital, security/police, emergency medical, or customer service role.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
