Lead Engineer – Security Engineering will play a central role in shaping and delivering security solutions across a growing engineering ecosystem. This position leads the design and execution of security initiatives that protect critical systems and data, ensuring resilience across cloud environments, applications, and development pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide teams in implementing security architecture that supports long-term business and technology goals
- Translate high-level security strategy into actionable engineering outcomes
- Advise on complex technical risks and lead the development of effective countermeasures
- Champion secure coding practices, threat modeling, and secure API design across engineering groups
- Collaborate with development, operations, and business units to integrate security into CI/CD workflows
- Lead efforts in identity and access management, encryption, and security monitoring platforms
- Drive improvements in vulnerability management, incident response, and operational security posture
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence across security engineering functions
Qualifications
Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Required experience includes at least five years in software or security engineering and three years in a technical leadership capacity. Deep knowledge of secure SDLC, cloud security, DevSecOps, and modern application protection techniques is essential. Familiarity with Agile and Test Driven Development practices is expected.
Preferred Experience
- Ownership of production systems with accountability for security and reliability
- Experience tracking and improving security KPIs such as control coverage and incident resolution
- Leading post-mortem analyses and implementing systemic fixes
