About the Role

The Department of the Navy is hiring a Security Assistant to support our facility's security operations. This role is responsible for maintaining access control, managing visitor processes, and preparing essential security documentation.

What You'll Do

  • Issue visitor and vehicle entrance passes to authorized persons as directed by rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Greet persons entering the building, determine the nature and purpose of visits, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
  • Compose security documentation for a supervisor's signature, which may include correspondence, reports, charts, messages, technical papers, or briefing presentations.
  • Respond verbally to inquiries for verification of security clearances recorded in security databases.
  • Access a personal identification system to issue vehicle passes and identification badges.

What We're Looking For

  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate interpreting policy to ensure uniform application of regulations and processes.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate utilizing word processing and database management to retrieve data and incorporate it into reports.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate utilizing correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization to complete documents.
  • Specialized experience must demonstrate receiving visitors and/or screening phone calls to determine the nature of requests to direct callers to the appropriate person or office.
