What You'll Do
- Define how robotic tasks are represented in data, shaping training requirements for perception, world models, and action policies based on real-world constraints and sensor inputs.
- Build and test prototypes for vision-language models, world modeling, and action representation to identify critical data needs and quality metrics.
- Leverage simulation environments and digital twins to generate and validate datasets that reflect real robotic tasks, improving scalability and robustness.
- Partner directly with customer robotics and machine learning teams to define data collection methods, annotation standards, and performance benchmarks tied to model outcomes.
- Lead technical scoping and pre-sales initiatives, designing experiments that prove the value of data pipelines and secure customer buy-in.
- Work with internal data and platform teams to develop reusable, high-quality data workflows, including advanced computer vision labeling and quality assurance processes.
- Create standardized frameworks and demonstrations for common use cases like manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction to streamline future deployments.
- Provide feedback from customer engagements to influence the evolution of data tools and platform capabilities for robotics applications.
- Present insights and best practices at industry events, contributing to broader knowledge sharing around robotics data and evaluation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in robotics, computer vision, or embodied AI, with hands-on work in training or deploying robotic or simulation-based systems.
- Ability to connect physical tasks to model inputs, data structures, and performance metrics, clearly explaining technical trade-offs to both engineers and product stakeholders.
- Familiarity with world models, imitation learning, teleoperation, or synthetic data generation in robotics workflows.
- Minimum of 3 years of programming experience in Python and one additional language such as C++ or Java, commonly used in robotics or ML systems.
- Comfort navigating null problems, rapidly defining minimum viable solutions, and iterating with customer teams.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on technical advisory—capable of leading design sessions, workshops, and collaborative planning with AI and robotics teams.
- Project leadership experience, with the ability to manage cross-functional efforts from concept through delivery while aligning technical and business goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with physical robots—such as humanoids, manipulators, or mobile platforms—or advanced simulation environments like Isaac or Omniverse.
- Background in designing large-scale datasets, annotation schemas (e.g., affordances, action labels), or evaluation systems for robotics models.
- Prior work in solutions engineering, technical consulting, or pre-sales roles with robotics or autonomous systems customers.
- Public contributions to open-source robotics or ML projects, technical publications, or blogs showcasing practical prototyping and data design.
