Lead the mechanical innovation behind a next-generation robotic system designed to accelerate solar energy deployment. In this role, you'll take ownership of end-to-end hardware development—designing, analyzing, and validating complex mechanical subsystems that power autonomous solar installations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead mechanical design efforts for robotic components, assemblies, and full subsystems, ensuring reliability, precision, and manufacturability.
- Translate high-level product requirements into detailed technical specifications and design criteria for mechanical systems.
- Perform in-depth analyses including stress, motion, and tolerance stack-up to ensure robust performance under real-world conditions.
- Create and release CAD models, engineering drawings, and BOMs, maintaining rigorous documentation standards.
- Develop design validation plans, failure mode analyses, and technical knowledge artifacts to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and controls teams to integrate mechanical systems into a fully functional robotic platform.
- Guide prototype builds and testing cycles to validate design concepts and iterate quickly based on empirical data.
- Apply safety standards and systems engineering principles to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Optimize designs for cost, scalability, and performance across the product lifecycle.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in robotic hardware development.
- Proven success delivering complex electromechanical systems from concept to production.
- Strong command of 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
- Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design principles.
- Experience with FMEA, DVP&R, tolerance analysis, and systems-level integration.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards including CE, FCC, and UL, as well as risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with minimal oversight.
- Clear communication skills and a commitment to quality and technical rigor.
- Understanding of solar technology and energy systems is highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical field.
- Exposure to automation, computer vision, or machine learning applications in robotics.
