Databricks is seeking a Resident Solutions Architect (Big Data Solutions Architect) to join our Professional Services team. In this role, you will engage directly with clients on short to medium term projects to address their most significant data challenges, leveraging the Databricks platform to deliver value through data engineering, data science, and cloud technology integrations.
What You'll Do
- Work on impactful customer technical projects, including designing and building reference architectures, creating how-to guides, and productionalizing customer use cases.
- Collaborate with engagement managers to scope a variety of professional services work based on customer input.
- Guide strategic customers through transformational big data projects and third-party migrations, handling end-to-end design, build, and deployment of industry-leading big data and AI applications.
- Consult on architecture and design, and bootstrap or implement customer projects to drive successful evaluation and adoption of Databricks.
- Provide an escalated level of support for customer operational issues.
- Partner with the Databricks technical team, Project Manager, Architect, and Customer team to ensure technical deliverables meet customer needs.
- Work with Engineering and Customer Support to provide product and implementation feedback and guide rapid resolution for engagement-specific issues.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, and analytics.
- Comfort writing code in either Python or Scala.
- Working knowledge of two or more common cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) with expertise in at least one.
- Deep experience with distributed computing using Apache Spark™ and knowledge of Spark runtime internals.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for production deployments.
- Working knowledge of MLOps.
- Proven ability to design and deploy performant, end-to-end data architectures.
- Experience with technical project delivery, including managing scope and timelines.
- Strong documentation and white-boarding skills.
- Experience working directly with clients and managing conflicts.
- Ability to build skills in technical areas that support the deployment and integration of Databricks-based solutions.
- Willingness to travel to customers 20% of the time.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
