The Department of Health and Society at the University of Toronto Scarborough is seeking a Research Coordinator for the project 'Culture in Movement: The management and Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes.' This intervention study focuses on improving health outcomes associated with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. You will work closely with academic and community principal investigators to manage administrative research activities and ensure the study's quality and timelines.
What You'll Do
- Foster positive relationships with project partners
- Schedule day-to-day project activities and coordinate meeting schedules, agendas, materials, and follow-up items
- Resolve issues within the scope of the role and escalate problems as required
- Maintain project records and check that projects adhere to ethical and privacy requirements
- Track and monitor research activities
- Record or verify transactions on a single account
- Manage and review study documents
- Review or edit study reports and presentations
- Manage and edit communication with research team members, partners, and stakeholders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for research projects
- Monitor the research study to ensure quality and achievement of expected timelines and deliverables
- Assist with other aspects of study management
What We're Looking For
- A Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or a similar field, or an acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- A minimum of three years of directly related and demonstrated experience in coordinating large-scale research studies
- Experience working directly with community agencies in the conduct of community-based research
- Demonstrated experience working with marginalized and/or racialized populations
- Experience coordinating research projects and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Demonstrated experience fostering positive relationships with multiple groups including internal and external interest-holders and community partners
- Excellent working knowledge of PC platforms: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Access
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communications skills (oral and written) with an ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work under time constraints and workload pressures, managing conflicting priorities and deadlines despite regular interruptions
- Evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment
Nice to Have
- Experience working directly with Indigenous populations or organizations
- Understanding of data management and data governance principles
- Training in cultural safety and/or humility
- Experience in strength-based reporting
- Experience completing Research Ethics Board (REB) applications and editing content for grant applications

Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation starts at $76,577 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928.

This is an onsite position located at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC).
