Uptalent.io is looking for a Remote Architectural Energy Modeler to join our energy and sustainability team. In this role, you will support early architectural concept design and guide projects through certifications like Passive House. Your work will directly influence the operational and embodied decarbonization of the built environment.
What You'll Do
- Create detailed energy models for buildings using software like EnergyPlus, IESVE, or DesignBuilder.
- Conduct energy simulations and analysis to evaluate and optimize building performance.
- Assist architects and engineers in integrating sustainable design strategies.
- Provide recommendations for energy-efficient building systems and materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and objectives.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in energy modeling.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients and project teams.
What We're Looking For
- A BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architectural Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Therm, WUFI Passive House, Sketchup, Rhino 3D, and AutoCAD.
- Experience with energy modeling following ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G for code-compliance, LEED, and/or utility incentives.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems for high-performance residential buildings.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- A shared passion for the operational and embodied decarbonization of buildings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English with excellent communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in modeling and analysis.
- Flexibility to adapt to project requirements and timelines.
Nice to Have
- A PHI or PHIUS "CPHC" certification is preferable.
