Lifepoint Health is looking for a Registrar to join our team at Raleigh General Hospital. In this critical frontline role, you will be responsible for patient registration and coordination in the Emergency Room, ensuring accurate data entry, insurance verification, and excellent customer service. What You'll Do
- Gather and verify patient account information, insurance coverage, and ensure accurate entry of demographic, billing, and clinical data, including assigning medical record numbers.
- Distribute and explain forms, obtain necessary signatures, and meet with patients or caregivers to exchange essential information.
- Communicate with physician offices, nursing units, and other personnel to coordinate admissions and determine placement.
- Verify insurance benefits, obtain precertifications/authorizations, and process payments or refer to financial counselors as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient questions and concerns while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and registration software efficiently to manage data and support documentation compliance.
- Collaborate with departments and resolve registration issues to facilitate smooth patient admissions and ensure adherence to hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of directly related experience may be substituted for the required education.
- Previous computer experience required, including familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or registration systems.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, and sometimes stressful environment.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain accuracy while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures; billing or collections experience strongly preferred.
