You will provide leadership and oversight for Triage Engineering, Material Review Board (MRB), and Failure Review Board (FRB) functions, serving as the primary interface between engineering and the production floor to ensure rapid response to issues and effective resource prioritization.
What You'll Do
- Supervise and mentor a team of lead, mid-career, and junior engineers across multiple technical disciplines, including performance management, professional development, and workload balancing.
- Interface directly with production floor management to coordinate engineering support, prioritize competing demands, and align production schedules with engineering resource allocation.
- Manage prioritization and allocation of tasking across Production Support sub-groups (Triage, MRB, FRB) to optimize production throughput and minimize line downtime.
- Oversee rapid response triage activities and Material Review Board (MRB) engineering to ensure timely disposition of issues and nonconforming material.
- Direct Failure Review Board (FRB) processes, ensuring comprehensive failure investigations, root cause analysis, and effective corrective action implementation supporting FRACAS and FACAR deliverables.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other IPS groups and external stakeholders including Design Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for production support activities and develop process improvements to enhance team effectiveness.
- Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues requiring management decision-making or cross-functional coordination.
- Participate in workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning for the Production Support team.
- Design manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
- Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout.
- Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment that affect product performance.
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems to ensure product quality.
- Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control.
- Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

- Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.) and experience developing and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills with knowledge of DoD, Navy, or other government engineering standards and requirements (MIL-STDs, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
- Proficient in the use of PCs and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, desktop applications, and electronic mail programs.
- Demonstrated competencies in leadership and people management, production operations understanding, priority management and resource allocation, technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, problem-solving and decision-making under pressure, cross-functional collaboration, performance management and coaching, strategic thinking and process improvement, and ethical conduct and professional integrity.
