What You'll Do
- Define and evolve the architecture of large, distributed systems that support global operations, balancing scalability, cost, and reliability.
- Lead high-impact technical decisions across platform boundaries, influencing engineering teams and leadership through clarity and insight.
- Translate product and business goals into sustainable technical strategies, driving execution across months or quarters.
- Establish architectural standards and patterns that improve consistency, quality, and velocity across engineering domains.
- Take ownership of production outcomes—reliability, performance, and operational health—beyond design or recommendations.
- Mentor senior engineers and amplify impact through technical leadership without direct authority.
- Operate effectively in uncertain environments where problems are not fully defined, helping to frame both the challenge and the path forward.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience building and evolving cloud-native platforms at scale, particularly in distributed or multi-tenant SaaS environments.
- Strong coding skills in Golang or Ruby, with hands-on contributions to core systems and architectural reviews.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes as a production platform, including its impact on deployment, resilience, and operational complexity.
- Experience making strategic decisions around build vs. buy, technology adoption, and long-term platform investment.
- Ability to communicate complex technical tradeoffs clearly to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of leading through influence, shaping technical direction across teams and domains.
Technology Environment
You'll work with Golang, Ruby, Kubernetes, containers, microservices, CI infrastructure, and cloud-native systems. The platform leverages SaaS architecture, multi-tenancy, and scalable patterns such as Cells and OrgMover to support global users.
