AECOM is hiring a Principal Engineer/Associate Director - Track

About the Role

Lead and manage complex track engineering projects, provide technical direction, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to deliver rail and transit solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and design of rail track systems for public and private clients
  • Serve as technical lead on multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure assignments
  • Develop and review engineering calculations, drawings, and design specifications
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, and systems engineers to integrate track components
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Prepare and present technical reports and design deliverables to clients
  • Lead design reviews and risk assessments throughout project lifecycle
  • Mentor and guide mid-level and junior engineering staff
  • Support business development through proposal writing and client meetings
  • Maintain familiarity with current and emerging rail technologies and design practices
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and attend coordination meetings
  • Conduct field investigations and construction site visits as needed
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are followed
  • Integrate sustainability principles into track design solutions

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field
  • Experience with design-build project delivery methods
  • Knowledge of signaling and train control system interfaces
  • Prior experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Familiarity with BIM or 3D modeling workflows
  • Leadership role in professional rail or transit organizations
  • Experience managing international projects
