The Roman Catholic Bishop of San Diego / Notre Dame Academy is hiring a Preschool Teacher Aide to assist in the general supervision and management of fully potty-trained children between the ages of two and a half and five years. You will support the educational mission of Notre Dame Academy.
What You'll Do
- Assist the preschool teacher in an instructional capacity and perform duties as assigned.
- Support grade-appropriate instruction, including lesson planning, classroom preparation, and student assessment.
- Supervise students and respect the needs of individual children.
- Detect and report any student concerns to the Preschool Director.
- Help create and follow plans to support student development.
- Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, and in-service training.
- Attend other school functions and activities as necessary.
- Use computers, overhead projectors, document cameras, iPads, and other electronic equipment.
- Return voicemail and email messages in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with parents in person and via professional email.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner and maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
- Demonstrate a respectful demeanor and observe utmost confidentiality.
What We're Looking For
- Proof of completion of 6 or more Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units OR proof of at least 2 units with current enrollment working towards 6.
- A clear criminal background check (a clear Livescan for Community Care Licensing is a condition of employment).
- Experience teaching in a preschool classroom.
- Positive professional references and recommendations.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (upon hire).
- Proof of immunizations (upon hire).
- Proof of completed Mandated Reporter training for Child Care Providers (upon hire).
- A cleared TB test to work in a Licensed Child Care Facility (upon hire).
- Respects and understands a Catholic school philosophy.
Nice to Have
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic.
- Basic Preschool Catechetical Certification.
