About the Role

Bosch Group / ETAS Japan is looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer to join the ICA (Integrated Calibration and Application) department. You will provide technical expertise for innovative measurement, calibration, and diagnostic solutions, working closely with the sales team to lead technical proposals and solve complex customer challenges in automotive development.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize expert knowledge of measurement, calibration, and diagnostic solutions like INCA, INCA-FLOW, and ASCMO to provide optimal technical proposals.
  • Understand customer ECU development processes and toolchains to design and propose optimal solution architectures.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and workshops to resolve customer technical questions.
  • Build trust with customers and act as a technical point of contact to support problem-solving.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders from management to development engineers as a technical advisor.
  • Clearly communicate how ETAS solutions contribute to customer business value in mobility development.
  • Lead the creation of technical responses to RFIs/RFPs to accurately meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives to drive strategy planning, needs interviews, and proposals from a technical perspective.
  • Support the planning and execution of PoCs (Proof of Concept) to demonstrate solution value.
  • Collaborate with implementation teams and partners to support smooth post-contract transitions.
  • Provide feedback to product development teams.
  • Communicate customer feedback and market needs to global product teams to contribute to improvements.
  • Collaborate with global teams to deploy the latest product information and success cases to the Japanese market.

What We're Looking For

  • At least one of the following technical knowledge areas: knowledge/practical experience in embedded software, mechatronics, electrical, or electronic systems; experience with or deep understanding of measurement/calibration or calibration optimization tools; knowledge of ECU development processes, measurement, calibration, and diagnostics; knowledge of in-vehicle networks such as CAN, FlexRay, Ethernet; experience using MATLAB/Simulink or understanding of its concepts.
  • Ability to travel for business trips to domestic customer sites.
  • English proficiency (TOEIC 500 or above, reading/writing required, conversational ability preferred).
  • Native Japanese or Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 level.

Nice to Have

  • Practical experience (3+ years) as a pre-sales engineer, application engineer, or technical support in the automotive industry or related embedded systems development.
  • ECU software development or calibration practical experience.
  • Experience building/operating HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments.
  • Knowledge of autonomous driving, ADAS, or powertrain control.
  • Experience with automation using scripting languages like Python.
  • Knowledge/practical experience of standards related to automotive development such as ASAM.
  • Intermediate or higher English (TOEIC 600 or above).

Team & Environment

You will be part of the ICA (Integrated Calibration and Application) department, collaborating closely with the sales team and global product development teams.
